Vir Das confesses on his new Netflix special show – Losing It – that after Mastizaade released in 2016, the phone stopped ringing for him for the next six months – with the punchline that even Vodafone stopped calling him. “Focus on the talent that you have in front of you and somehow it will all work out,” Das tells us over the phone when we get on a call to discuss the show among other upcoming projects. And it looks like things did work out for the comedian/actor. A year after the disastrous Bollywood sex-comedy made its way to the big screen, Netflix came calling. Vir Das did Abroad Understanding, a stand-up show, filmed between New York and Delhi, that basically introduced him to an all new audience for the first time. A few months later, he signed two more specials with the streaming giant. Losing It premiered this week, and the comedian is currently in Prague, shooting for Whisky Cavalier, a new American sitcom that will go on air early next year. We caught up with Das to talk about Losing It, Whisky Cavalier and his upcoming Bollywood projects.
